Welcome

Hi, I'm Fiona, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and doctoral candidate. I started working in the mental health field over 20 years ago, first on the Crisis Lines and various non-profit agencies, and later for the local health authorities.  As my studies and strengths evolved, I began seeing more and more people with diverse trauma histories.  I have now been in private practice for over 15 years and work almost exclusively with people who've experienced any measure of grief, loss or trauma.

Of particular interest to me is perinatal/reproductive stress and trauma, post-partum depression and anxiety, and/or subsequent parenting and relationship challenges.  This could look like infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, traumatic birth experience, loss of a child, PCOS, mood instability and disorders, and many other experiences that can come up during the pre, perinatal and post-partum period.

In a similar vain, I also specialize in bereavement, end-of-life care and treatment (inclusive of MAID).

My approach to therapy is a warm and holistic one, and I find using a combination of cognitive and somatic strategies the most effective, as this process naturally recognizes the intricate and delicate connection of mind and body in the healing process. Grief knows no timeline, and the process of mourning and reconciliation is as unique as the individual experiencing it.  With empathy and understanding, I’ll help guide you through the complexities of grief and loss, providing validation, support, and practical coping strategies along the way.  My hope is that our work together can foster a sense of hope and possibility, even in the midst of profound pain and uncertainty.

When I'm not practicing, I like to spend time on the ocean, and in the mountains, hiking, biking, or skiing. I play tennis and do pilates, love to read (about 1 book a week!) and be with family and good friends.
